One Last Hurrah

For the last two years Dallin has been best friends with this set of twins, Aiden and Zachary. Sadly, they had to move this summer. Dallin will really miss them. Before they left we had one last play date with these crazy boys.

Tennis Menace

Over the last year, we have been trying to figure out an extracurricular activity that Dallin would like, and be good at. He was an awesome soccer player in Texas, but here in Hawaii, they have two practices a week (one being on Sunday) plus games every Saturday. It's just a little too much for me. He tried basketball in Texas, but he couldn't focus on the game. He would be skipping down the court, whistling a tune, and not paying attention at all. Well, his only other passion was the Wii, especially tennis. So, I found an instructor here in Kapolei, and he has been bitten by the tennis bug. He LOVES the game. After only 2 practices, his coach asked if he would sign up for the team. Even though his is the youngest, smallest, and least experienced, they needed one more player to make up a team to play competitively. He has done awesome playing doubles, and they have won every game thus far. He is so excited for the next match because Coach Brent told him he will get to play his first singles match. GO Tennis Menace! (the name of his team)

Kids For All Seasons

While in Maui, Corynn and Dallin chose to spend two days at the keiki camp called Kids for all Seasons. I was concerned that they would get bored after 8 hours in there, but every day when we came to pick them up there were protests and begging to stay longer. They would tell me all about swimming, learning Hawaiian games, feeding fish, playing with the other children, learning the hula, doing crafts...you get the point. Here is one of the crafts they did. It's supposed to be a beach. Dallin's must have been during high tide :)This craft is a surfer boy, a door hanger and butterfly.
Here Dallin is showing me his moves, along with the lei he made. He can do a mean hula.

Jet of the Month...Finally!

Today Dallin was finally recognized as the Jet of the Month for his class. Ever since Corynn was Jet, he has been trying sooooo hard, and every month he would come home in tears as he was passed over. I finally had to tell him it might not happen, but we could name him as the Jet of the Month in our home because he is such a great brother and son. Last week Dallin came running in the house with his letter, just beaming that he was finally chosen. He now announces his arrival with, "Hey Mom, your Jet boy is ho-ome." I nearly missed the assembly as the kids had told me it started at 12:30. That just didn't sound right to me, so I called the school at 7:45 a.m. and they informed me the assembly was at 8:15. Yikes! I threw the same clothes I had worn the day before (just because they happened to be close by on the floor), grabbed the baby, and ran out the door with total bed head, and no make-up. It was worth the embarrassment just to see how proud my little guy was.

Father & Son's Camp Out

Dallin has been so excited for this camp-out! When he and Chris arrived at the camp ground, he saw another little boy from his class at school named Alema. He had no idea they went to the same chuch (they are in a different ward). So, a new friendship was born. Chris says they were basically inseperable. Here are some photos of these cute boys.

The Trash Talker

Dallin's Christmas vacation has been filled with one thing; the Wii. Normally I limit video gaming, but all his little friends have gone to the mainland for the break, so I let him play until his little heart is content. I love to just listen to him play. His trash talking is hilarious. Neither Chris nor I are big sports fans, or very competitive for that matter, so I don't know where he is picking this up. Here are a couple of his favorite phrases:
Cummon Bo-yeeee
Whatcha doin? Huh?
Show me whatcha got
Oh no ya don't
You wanna go again? Bring it on big bo-yeee

I guess it's not all trash talk. I also get a chuckle when he is cheering on his other "team" members. He made Miis (characters) of all his grandparents, and whenever one is up to bat, he chants, "Go Grandma C, Go Grandma C." Grandma C!? Who is that? Must be Grandma Carol.
